The company Os Buriti  was created among family members. In September 1995 Os Buriti opened up to the public with its first show called “Bamboo”.

Eliana Carneiro  was coming from a long journey full of award-winning theatre dance solos when she decided to set up a group so she could continue to explore the body and the sacred in theatre. Naira, the six year old young daughter of Eliana Carneiro and Marcelo Larrea- the group`s scenographer- decided to join the company. With a child performing, the company changed its path. Now the show would have to engage with children!

Consequently emerges the Cia Os Buriti`s language research which, with mother and daughter on stage, still tries to create theatre, dance and music shows for all ages.

Nowadays, mother and daughter develop the shows together and Naira, by herself, works as the company`s producer. Guian, Eliana`s second child, also worked in the creation of some the performances. The musician and educator Daniel Pitanga, Naira’s husband, is also part of the group since 2010, expanding the family group.
